[[MS] - Stepping Stoned]

Logo name same

I think music-story has the exact same logo. MS I'm talking about. This song is different so here it is:

1)The beginning sounded like ethnic instruments. Lots of them. I like uniqueness.
2) That fuzziness is bad. You need to fix up the clarity unless that was done on purpose.
3)Yah. Decent amounts of diversity. Like those atmospheric drums in the background.

Not much more to say. Some odd stoppages in the song but I didn't like that uber distorted part. That hurt my ears. Here is your 8 stars. See yah.

I like the stuff i used for this, it's all experiments really, for example, i used foley footstep samples for the percussion thing.
I can't master, I'm shitty at it. I'm trying but i still can't.

[Our Moment]

This sounds familiar

I like the happy feeling from this song. It however reminds me of music that my sister played in piano lessons. I'm sure you made this from 100% scratch, but I think you were influenced by another musician correct? It's very difficult to come up with something entirely original since so many historic classical musicians yet I'm happy to hear something close to it. After watching "Composer" the flash vid I kind of like classicals more. Keep making them. See yah.

This piece was slightly influenced by Gershwin's "Love Walked In"
but also by a million other piano pieces deep within my noggin.
I'm not a particular fan of the animation, but it warms my heart to hear that it sparked peoples interest in the genre, even though it just barely touched the idea of a real composer's anguish.

[Let Me Take You (UnF)]

Before you finish take my advice.

How long is the final version going to be? So I will list the good and bad I hear so far.

1) Some nice delay on that lead sound. I'm talking about that 1st sound at the very beginning of the song. Keep that in effect.

2) The intro drums honestly suck. It ruins the whole mood and makes me just want to stop listening to the song. Change them.

3) 33 seconds the song gets better however! now that you got two sounds going at once you must make sure they are in unison. So you got the higher pitch (I will call it "A") sound and a lower pitch sound (I will call it "B" ). Careful listening and you can sense the unison is not there. Solution: Lower the attack time of sound B a little bit so the sound aligns with sound A.

4) Song works well at climax. Bass makes everything sound better.

I think you should just trash the first 33 seconds of the song and start the song at 33 seconds on. Your decision to take my advice or not. A respectful 8 stars.

Thnx for an honest review. Its not as often as id like that people put that much effort into saying all of how they feel about a tune. Finished verion should be done by hopefully a little past next month, but with college work and all that, I never can tell.

Responce to good and bad:
1) I'm glad you like that and i will incorperate another kind of delay effect further in the song

2) Now that you mention it, I could change the intro and make it a whole lot better. Im thinkin drum n bass intro =) Or maybe ill just make it really exciting from the start, builing it up to the euphoria... or both =D

3) I will work on the pitches of the synths and bass somehow. Not sure how but ill see when I get to it. Perhaps will do as you suggest.

4) You're right! And i will put that kinda "chorus" in twice to make this more like a full song.

About getting rid of the first 33 seconds; I may just try and make everything sound better then get rid of it, as starting from the euphoria would just sound a bit wrong... I dunno, I'll see how it turns out.

This song only took me about 12 hours to make (in total) so Id say that 8/10 is EXTREMELY generous, especially as this is only a demo sorta tune.

Anyway, thanks for listening and reviewing. Ill try my best not to dissapoint with my next tune =P but hey, not everyone can like a song, no matter what genre they like. Thnx agen =)

Good stuff

I like this beat. Decent vox. Need to work on your vocals. Brought the song down.

1) Fix the vox. I can barely hear it too since it background sounds are overpowering.
2)Like the good beat with the stringy guitars.
3)Length of song is a bit too long.
4) Suprisingly not that much vox in this song. Not sure if a good or bad thing. Weird though.

Can you tell me the lyrics sung here. I can't hear some of the vox. A respected 9 stars. See yah.

yeah, at the last min i turned up the guitars. it does overpower the vox a little, but then again i hate it when the vocals are the loudest aspect of the song. guitars should be loud as hell. thnx

Generic vox. I heard the exact same voice say the exact same words. Boring bass. Quickie review here:

1) Decent intro. Maybe more fx to give a exciting feel.
2) Bass is too plain. Heard in too many fl made songs.
3) Piano not so good here. Boring composition.
4) Climax just doesn't sound like a climax. Too empty with just lead sound and bass going. Maybe full version will?
5)Add diversity please! The exact same pattern going on. No! Playing the pattern faster near the end does not make it a new pattern. The same notes again.

For only a preview your getting close to a good song. Make the final oh so much better than this song. A respectful 7 stars.

Sound good yet I have a weird feeling you used generic instruments or pre-recorded loops. I hope I'm wrong. Good vox and good sounds. Needs more stuff. Bland with only 1 lead instrument and no harmonies supporting. Here is my summary.

1) Too empty song. More reverb could fix this.

2) Vox sounds random at times. The voice keeps changing like another person is singing. Make it so that the same guy is singing for a decently long time.

3) Sounds unoriginal. A lot of beats are familiar.

4) Fx could have been used better. The fx plays and lasts for 1 second and just stops. Now I have to wait a while before one more short fx sound.

5) Song is not dancy. It has a classic 80s soft rock feel.

Good try. Still lacking in a few areas. A respectful 8 stars.

Good to an extent

Your ideas are good, but unoriginal. Good to chill to. Problems are:
1) as you said highly repeating stuff
2) unoriginal beats thus decreasing difficulty to make factor
3) happy bass? tends to be overpowering everything
4) your songs tend to start good than drag on near the end. Try a song that completely exciting from start to finish. Feels like you rush the last minute or so of all your song all the time.

Good and respectful 8 stars.

Off tune loop makes matters worse

Some beats are decent. The 2 lead sounds do not fit at all. You need to fix that. That bass simply is bad. Sorry dude for the harsh comments. Just trying to help you out for your next music project. A respectful 6 stars. See yah

Not quite there

The 1st stage is nice. Not much difference from original. 2nd stage is bland. Drums were only good part here. Stage 3 is essentially stage 1. Short song yet highly repetitive. I've heard better remixes. Good try. Needs a bit more working with samples and more energy needed. A respectful 8 stars.

It is a deal

Weird song title for a weird song. I actually thought at 28 seconds in that I was at a basketball game listening to sneakers slide across the floor. Weird fx sounds and mysterious. I agree with Katsuo. What he/she didn't say is that the song loops with only the fx changing. It gets boring quickly. For a scary scene it could work. Not a 1:54 long scene though. Only like 30-40 seconds and the scene would finish. You get me? A respectful 8 stars. Enjoy reason! See yah.
